History
Before the Second World War, the Strandhotel’s building consisted of two large holiday villas. After the war, the two villas were merged and converted into the Strandhotel. The complexity of the stairs and walls still betrays the fact that the building once consisted of two different buildings. Many original details of the villas can still be seen in the hotel.
Since 1980 a lot has happened in the building. All hotel rooms are now equipped with private bathroom facilities, and a reception desk has been built. Every day we work on the maintenance of the building, a big job given the size and location (by the sea). From 2011, the Strandhotel is co-run by the second generation. The third generation cant wait to start helping with the business.

Each room is unique with a different size and lay-out due to the history of the building. Go Vegetarian) and De Resident, all opened up a new branch at the Foodhall. In addition, the Foodhall also attracted some big names to Scheveningen known from food halls elsewhere; such as De Ballenbar, Jabugo, The Sushibar, La Catrina and Churros & more. There are also a few exciting new names: De Scheveningse Oesterbar, Meat on a Stick, Saigon Streetfood, Frozen Sweets and Wan Tsam Dim Sum opened up their first permanent restaurant here in Scheveningen. Pad Thai and Gyros Express are concepts that are already well established in the Netherlands.
